A Neon Run and Frozen Peanut Butter

The weather was absolutely gorgeous today (sorry for any of you that have snow), so I accidentally wore my brightest neon outfit on my run because I was in such a great mood. Dixie was blinded and refused to look at me.

I was so tired today for some reason, so I had to drink some pre-workout for quick energy. That is the only thing I dislike about running in the evenings.. sometimes I just want to lay on the couch and be lazy, especially when there is a 19 Kids and Counting marathon on.

Has anyone ever used C4? I only use it if I’m doing short distances and have drank a lot of water throughout the day. It’s great for strength training or cross train days too.

Unfortunately Dixie only got to go .75 miles today because there was a giant pit bull loose in our neighborhood and I had to physically pick her up to get her away from him (she’s a baby). He was friendly but she was terrified of him so I wasn’t going to take any chances. Luckily a friendly neighbor held him while we ran home because he would not stop chasing us.

After I put Dixie back in the house I did 3.3 mi @ 8:31 pace. My legs were a little sore from my mile repeats yesterday so I wanted to take it easy, but it felt good! 4 mi total if you count me and Dixie running from a pit bull for the first 5 min of our workout.

Now, let me tell you about Dixie’s favorite post-run treat. Whenever a peanut butter jar is almost empty in our house it becomes Dixie’s property. Don’t worry, she has a kong toy that I fill with peanut butter when full jars aren’t available. If you haven’t figured it out by now our dog is a spoiled princess who lives the dream because she’s precious and deserves it.

Dinner was once again delicious. Grilled BBQ chicken sandwiches with guac, cheese and bacon with homemade sweet potato fries. We cut our sweet potatoes and toss with 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp corn starch (makes them crispy), salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Bake @ 425 for 40 min (flip after 20 min).

If you have a pet, what is their favorite treat? Any other peanut butter loving dogs out there?

Do you ever use supplements like C4 for energy? What are they?

I never knew that about the cornstarch! My sweet potato fries always end up in these soggy saggy blobs. I gotta try that trick!

    • Mine used to be the same way until I saw it on Pinterest. I love super crunchy sweet potato fries but I refuse to actually fry them.. They are still soft in the center but it gives them a crispier outside!

  2. My puggle Charlie is spoiled and only likes people food as treats! His favorites are peanut butter (we always let him lick out the empty container also), chicken, and cheese. He also loves raw vegetables like celery, cauliflower, and carrots, so we let him have those every day.

  3. Wow I will need to try that cornstarch trick! Thanks for mentioning it!

  4. Your dog is adorable. I have a Labrador and she loves peanutbutter too.
I had some extra C-4 and I gave it to a friend and he said it was awesome. I haven’t tried it myself yet though!

  5. Titus will eat just about anything. His favorite treat is to have an all you can eat in the trash can. 🙂 Those sweet potato fries look delicious!!! I loooove sweet potato fries! Weather her is good too. We hit 60 today 😀
