Top 5 Reasons Why I Run

No running yesterday. The little cold I ran with on Tuesday has completely taken over my body and I can’t get out of bed. So, I’m deciding that I’ll focus on something a little more positive until I can run again (hopefully Friday).

When I talk to non-runners about running they always ask “Why would you want to do that?” or they say something along the lines of “that sounds terrible.” If you aren’t a runner, you might not understand all the reasons why someone would want to spend way too much money to run 26.2 miles without stopping. Not to mention the months of training, sore muscles, blisters, and even more money spent on shoes and other gear. I can see how it might not make sense to everyone.

So, I want to hear from all my fellow runners… what do you say when someone asks you why you run? Here are my top 5 reasons:

  1. Yess.!! agree with all 5.! Mostly for me, it keeps me sane.! some days I don’t want to do it, and than I’m always happy afterwards.

  2. I love this list!! I think the number 1 reason that I run is that it makes me a better person from the inside out- I’m nicer, happier, and more creative when I get my run in for the day, and I feel better (and look better) on the outside. Running is the best 🙂 I also love being able to explore new areas via running! Traveling to new places for races is one of my favorite hobbies!

    Reasons #2, 4, and 5 are definite winners and I also run for those who can’t and to ward off a history of bad family genes that I’ve been dealt.

  4. #1. I just love it and i do it for me. It’s a time for me to zone out from everything else and just refresh my mind and I know it’s good for my body.
